This week the girls started school again. Instead of going back to in person school, we're having the girls go to Connections Academy. It's an online only school that's not Covid funded and has been around for around 11 years. I think overall it's a better choice for us and I think it will keep the girls safer. We're already seeing numbers coming in that are showing huge increases in cases among children and school staff. The governor is still fighting against any and all mask mandates which is just flat out stupid at this point. I would love to leave Texas but unfortunately, Florida's governor seems just as stupid as ours so I think for now we'll stay put. This school is definitely going to be more hands on for me and Toni which I think is a good thing. This first week was a little overwhelming but I think once we get into a pattern, it will be good. We're on track for Toni to quit her job on January 1st and I think that will make keeping up with the girl's school easier. Other than school, things were fairly quiet this week. We went for a walk this morning and Toni's been spending a lot of time at the hospital with her brother. He seems to be doing better and hopefully will be transferred back to Corpus this week. This coming week I'm on call which sucks but hopefully it'll be quiet.

Ready For School To Start!
This week was the last week of the summer for the girls. Overall it was pretty quiet. Toni spent every night at the hospital with her brother. Hopefully he continues to recover. This week we got the girls signed up in their new online school which we're excited about. We're both glad that the girls will be at home and safe. The new school seems really cool and I think once we get into the swing of things it's going to be nice. The other news this week is that Caitlin got her hair cut and styled. I think it looks really nice and she's very happy with it. Hopefully this week with school will be nice and the girls will enjoy it. I think overall it's the safest option right now. The covid delta variant is really bad right now and I don't think it's going to get better anytime soon.

Caitlin is Taller Than Toni!
This week was fairly quiet. I took Monday off and took the truck to the dealer to have the windshield washer nozzles replaced. After that, me and the girls went to the bookstore and the park. We're not really going out much anymore because of the Delta variant. Also this week we finished everything we need to do to get the girls signed up with the online school. Hopefully we'll get the confirmation in the next couple of days. I'm really glad this option is available. If it wasn't, we'd be doing home schooling. Other than that, Toni has been spending most of her time at the hospital with her brother. He has surgery on Monday and everything went well. Hopefully he'll be release from the hospital on Tuesday or Wednesday and then he'll be going to a rehab hospital in Corpus. Hopefully he recovers quickly. Today went to my dad's house and helped him with his lawn and then went to breakfast. I'm hoping this week is fairly quiet. It's the last week of summer vacation for the girls but I'm hoping that we'll be able to have some fun.

5K Training Complete!
This week I completed the Couch to 5K app! It was definitely a challenge but I'm glad I did it. I've now moved on to the 10k training app which should take about 6 weeks to complete. I'm going to try to stick with it and hopefully I can then move on to a half marathon training app. We'll see how it goes. In other news, Toni's brother is here in San Antonio at the hospital. He suffered severe burns and it looks like surgery may be required next week. Toni's been spending a lot of time at the hospital with him and hopefully everything goes well. This week we also attended an online orientation for the new school that the girls are going to attend this year. It's an online only public school out of Houston that is open to anyone in Texas at no cost. With the Delta variant driving up covid cases and the school district unwilling to offer an online option, we think this is the best option. We've also accelerated paying off the house so that it will be paid off by January 1st. This way Toni will be able to quit her job and we'll be able to keep the girls safe. We'll see how things go but I think the next 6 months are going to be full of change.

Back to Running and Trimming the Beard
This week was fairly quiet. I got back to running and only have 1 more run to go on the Couch to 5K app. I'm feeling pretty good with it and I'm hoping to finish it tomorrow and move on to the 10k app. Also this week I decided to trim my beard after 14 months. I'll probably let it grow again but it was time for a change. Thankfully it's long enough that I don't totally regret cutting it. This week we're also going to look into options for online school for the girls. With the Delta variant, we don't really feel comfortable sending the girls back to school. Especially considering that part of the school district's plan to avoid people coming into contact with each other is to not give out lockers and make the kids carry all of their books throughout the day. That sounds like a stupid plan and considering Caitlin's scoliosis, I think carrying that many books would be really bad for her back.
