9 Month appointment

This was a pretty busy week for us. On Tuesday all of the Vargas girls had Doctor appointments. Emma had her 9 month checkup and everything looked great. She got a flu shot and her growth is pretty impressive. She's up to 21.3 pounds (83rd percentile) and 29.5 inches tall (95th percentile). Needless to say, she's getting big! She's now got 2 teeth out on top and has another one coming out on the bottom. She also got a flu shot which she didn't enjoy but overall her appointment went well. After her appointment, Toni went to the Doctor and found out that she has a sinus infection which after getting some antibiotics seems to be clearing up. After her appointment, she had to take Caitlin to the Doctor for her flu shot. Caitlin's flu shot wasn't a needle but was instead a liquid injection in her nose. She did great. :)

Toni spent a couple of days this week out of town for work in Dallas. I got to spend some quality time with the girls and they definitely kept me busy! Emma is all over the place and loves checking out everything that she can. Caitlin has started trying to write her letters and has even started watching new tv shows. We're now watching The Incredible Hulk cartoons! Today we had a nice visit with Aunt Sarah, Uncle Dan, and Cousins Ryan and Maddie. Ryan is getting big and I think Maddie had a good time running around playing with Caitlin. We had a good lunch and a good visit. :)

Overall the week was pretty busy but we had a good time. Hope everyone has a great week!

Happy 3rd birthday Brooke!

This week was a pretty uneventful week. The girls are both doing great. Yesterday we went out running errands. Toni bought a lot of fabric and a sewing pattern to make the girls some pajamas. So far she's made blankets, tote bags and pillow cases. She seems to be enjoying her new hobby. :) We also went out to lunch and then came home and all of us took naps! The girls both got up earlier than they do during the week both days this weekend so we're all pretty tired. Today we went to Caitlin's best friend Brooke's third birthday party. The girls seemed to enjoy themselves and Caitlin was having a blast running around playing in the play area. Caitlin got super excited when Strawberry Shortcake showed up. She kept telling me and Toni that Strawberry Shortcake was here but she made sure to keep her distance. She did wave hello to her from about 5 feet away but that was as close as she would get to her. :)

Other than that, our week thankfully was pretty uneventful. I only got one call during my on call week which was really unusual for me and that was at a normal hour so I wasn't woken up every night like I usually am. This Tuesday Emma has her 9 month checkup. Toni's going to be taking her and I think she's getting 3 or 4 shots which I'm sure she won't enjoy. :( Hopefully this will be another uneventful week for us. Hope everyone has a great one!

First tooth!

Yesterday Emma turned 9 months old and her first tooth broke through! She's got another one right next to it that seems like it'll be out any day now as well. I really can't believe she's already 9 months old! Time sure is going fast! This week was pretty quiet with it being a 4 day workweek which was nice. On Thursday Caitlin spent the day with Nana Bev and she seemed to have fun. When she got home she was exhausted and fell asleep around 7:00PM and didn't wake up until 7:30 the next morning! She played outside in the pool, went for a walk and had a tea party among other things. :)

This weekend was fairly quiet. Yesterday Toni took Caitlin to a gymnastics class which she didn't seem to enjoy and unfortunately acted up so badly that Toni took her home early. :( Today we went to church and once Caitlin stopped crying when we dropped her off in the playroom, she had a lot of fun. Emma was her usual happy, smiling self. :)

I really can't believe how fast time is going. With today being 9/11, I couldn't help but think about where my life was 10 years ago and how different it is today. My life is definitely better today than it was back then and I can't get over how much things have changed. Caitlin is getting so grown up and every day lately has been saying 3 things to me when she gets home. 1) She asks if the ants bit me because she got bit by a fire ant. 2) She asks if the bee stung me today because last week I was stung by a bee. 3) She asks if I went to the Doctor today and then says that my Doctor is mad at her. She says this because the morning I had my kidney scan we dropped her off at school and she wanted to go to the Doctor with me. We tried explaining to her that she'd have more fun at school but somehow she took it as the Doctor was mad at her. Every night I tell her that I wasn't bitten by a fire ant and wasn't stung by a bee and she says she's happy to hear that. :) I then try to explain to her that the Doctor isn't mad at her and that she can go next time. :) Emma is standing up all the time and crawling very fast now. She's got to be the happiest baby I've ever seen. When I see her at night and say hi to her, her face lights up and then she'll hug Toni like she's being shy. It's so cute to watch. Hopefully this week will be quiet. I'm on call starting tomorrow so hopefully it won't be a week full of sleepless nights. :) Hope everyone has a great week!

Good news!

This week was a busy week that brought good news. On Tuesday, I found out that I'm not allergic to bees! :) For the first time in my life I was stung by a bee which hurt a lot more than I expected but luckily I'm not allergic to them. :) On Wednesday I had my appointment with the Urologist and everything went great! There were no traces of microscopic blood in my urine anymore and the Doctor thinks I probably passed a small kidney stone. I have a followup in 6 weeks to check again but the news was good. It was a huge relief for me!

We had a nice long weekend which was nice. We hung out with the girls and yesterday we took them to church and then downtown to a dinosaur exhibit. Caitlin really enjoyed it and was very excited seeing the skeletons. Each one we would come to she would tell us which character it was from Dino-Squad! Her new favorite show right now is the the BBC documentary, "Walking With Dinosaurs" :) Today the weather was nice so we took a walk down to the playground with the girls and Caitlin's friend Brooke. They had a lot of fun playing on the slide and running around the playground area.

Emma is continuing to grow more every day. This weekend we lowered her crib mattress since she's now standing up on her own quite a bit now. She's also extremely mobile and loves crawling after Caitlin. Caitlin loves playing with her and it's fun to watch them play together in the living room and interact with eachother. They both are growing up so fast.. Hopefully this will be a quiet week for us. I could definitely use the break after the 2 weeks of stress I had!
