Back to school!

Well, time got away from me again! The summer went by way too fast! Caitlin started First grade a couple of weeks ago! That just doesn't seem possible. There's so much that happened that I'll try to give the condensed version. In June, we got a new dog which the girls named Elsa. In July, we went to Brownville for Cousin Stephen's wedding and August was spent going to the zoo and having some family time. I'll let everyone look through the pics for now. Hope everyone is doing great!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day! Yesterday we celebrated Father's Day by going out to breakfast which was nice and then going to the movies to see "How To Train Your Dragon 2". We had a good time and the girls really enjoyed the movie. Later that night, I watched the Spurs win the Championship! Overall, it was a good day! :) In other news, Caitlin got a new Goldfish on a field trip at school and we'll be going to get Emma one soon too. Last week I also went to the Doctor for my neck. For years I've had back and neck pain off and on and it turns out that I have a pinched nerve. I've already started working out and I'm starting physical therapy this afternoon. Hopefully that will help. 

Kindergarten is over!

I have to say, I'm really disappointed in myself. It's been way too long since I've posted and there's a lot of things that I've missed putting on the blog. Let me try to do a quick post at least to update everyone. Before we knew it, Caitlin's Kindergarten year came to an end! I really can't believe how quickly it went by! We're both so proud of her and watching the improvements she made throughout the year was incredible! She's very excited about going to 1st grade next year. :) Emma is doing great also. She's been enjoying going to the pool and is doing really good with her letters. Last night, Tia Cuqui and Tio Fernando were here and took us to see "Maleficent". It was a great movie and the kids really enjoyed it. In other news, Caitlin has 2 molars coming in! She's been visited by the Tooth Fairy twice so far! I'm going to keep this post short but I wanted to at least get some pictures of the girls up from the last few months. Hopefully I can get back on a schedule and post more next weekend.

Permanent teeth!

 

A couple of days ago we awoke to find that Caitlin has her first permanent tooth coming in! You can see it in the first picture. The next day, we noticed that there's actually another one coming in next to that one too! It looks like pretty soon the Tooth Fairy is going to be visiting the Vargas house! Caitlin is very proud of her new tooth and already had a dentist appointment set for this week. :-) The girls are growing so fast! If you look at the picture of Caitlin's hand, you'll see that she has her hand on a clay impression that was made of my hand when I was in Kindergarten! At the time it was taken, I was probably 6 months older than she is but it was so cool to see that she's gotten so big. Caitlin is doing really good in school and Emma is doing really good with her letters and numbers. She's talking in such clear sentences now!

In other news, we went to Brownsville for the weekend which was nice. The girls both had lots of fun and it was nice to get away from San Antonio. Especially considering that the city had been extremely cold and was even shut down because of ice before we left! In Brownsville we went to the Children's Museum which the girls really enjoyed. Happy Birthday Cousin Maddie!

This weekend we celebrated Cousin Maddie's 4th birthday! It was a nice party and the all of the kids seemed like they had a lot of fun. Our first week back to our normal routine was busy as expected. The biggest news is that I've been updating our family Youtube channel and have started a new segment called "In the car with" where I setup my phone and record the kids in their everyday routines. You can check out our channel and subscribe at www.youtube.com/davidvargas38. The only other thing this week is that we decorated the girls trees for Valentine's day. They want to keep their trees up again this year so I decorated them for Valentine's day again this year. :) I'm going to keep this post short tonight but I wanted to at least get something posted. :) Have a great week!

Happy Holidays!

Well, I've fallen pretty far behind on the blog but one of my New Year's resolutions is to get back to updating it more often. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! The last 6 weeks have been pretty busy around here. I'll try to briefly sum up everything. To start, I was in a car accident in mid November. It wasn't too serious and no one was hurt. Unfortunately, I am STILL waiting to get my car back. My wheels are out of production so I had to get different ones. They are waiting for the wheels and once that's done, I should have my car back. At this point, I'm not sure I want it back though. For the last several years, I've suffered from back and hip pain which I always equated to having a job where I sit all the time. 2 weeks after getting my rental car (Nissan Altima) I started to notice that I wasn't in pain as often. Over 6 weeks later, I haven't had any pain in my hip and my lower back doesn't hurt like it used to. I think the seats in my 300 were the cause of all of my problems! I was never able to comfortably drive for long distances but I never really put the 2 together. As strange as it may sound, having the Altima has been an enjoyable experience. Add on over twice the MPG's that my car gets and I'm really thinking about selling my car and buying an Altima. We'll see how things work out in 2014.. To close out November we stayed home for Thanksgiving and had a nice day at my Sister's house with family.

In December we celebrated Emma's 3rd birthday which was a lot of fun. We took her to Pump It Up, a place that has a lot of bouncers and I think everyone had a lot of fun. Emma seemed to enjoy herself once she got used to being the center of attention. Christmas was good for us as well. The girls were super excited and we got lots of videos and pictures. I've had the 2 holiday weeks off work and it's been great spending time with the girls. Last week they were sick so we spent a lot of time at the Doctors office this vacation but they are doing a lot better now.
