Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day everyone! We hope you had a good long weekend! We enjoyed our 3 day weekend. On Saturday we had a get together at Nana Bev and Grampa Bob's house with Aunt Sarah, Uncle Dan and Cousin Maddie. Aunt Sarah celebrated her 36th birthday! We had a good time and the girls all enjoyed playing in the pool Nana Bev and Grampa Bob got for them. Caitlin continues to ask if she can play in the pool and seemed to really enjoy it. This week was actually pretty quiet on the news front. Caitlin continues maturing before our eyes and amazes me more every day. This week she started acting out scenes from the movie Tangled. It's so cute to listen to her recite lines from the movie! Emma is getting stronger every day and has started moving herself around in her crib. She seems to be spinning on her back and still isn't rolling over but she's definitely on her way. One night she was even almost doing push ups trying to get up! She's been a little fussy this weekend which is strange for her. She's not running a fever or anything but is very fussy so we're keeping an eye on her.

This week should be nice since it's a short week. Tomorrow we get to start the week bright and early with our Dentist appointments. We probably won't bring Caitlin this time since they're going to be doing full sets of x-rays for Toni and I. We'll definitely bring her next time so she can start getting used to the dentist. :) Hope everyone has a great week!

Quiet week

This week was overall a pretty uneventful week news wise. I was sick with a stomach virus for most of the week so pretty much every night I was in bed by 9. The girls are doing good. Caitlin keeps acting more grown up every day and this week came into the room and asked, "What's going on in here?" when she heard Toni and Emma playing. We did go to a couple events this week. Friday we went to the graduation for the 4 year olds at Caitlin's school which was cute to watch. Doesn't seem possible that before long Caitlin will be doing the same thing. The place they had it was extremely hot so it made it a little hard to sit through but overall it was nice. On Saturday Toni and the girls went to a birthday party for one of the kids at school. Caitlin seemed to enjoy it. :) We also went out to breakfast at McDonalds which Caitlin enjoyed very much. Her favorite food seems to be their hashbrowns which she always immediately takes from my plate! Caitlin's doing good with the potty training but the nights are still hit or miss. We'll probably keep her in nighttime pullups for a while longer but overall she's doing great!

Emma's doing great too! She's grabbing at things, laughing and smiling all the time now. It's so cute to see her face light up when she sees us. We're also going to talk to the Doctor about trying the penecillin again. Yesterday Emma got a rash like she did back when she was taking the medicine. It cleared up fast but I'm wondering if she's possibly allergic to something else or just has really sensitive skin. I'd like to try the penecillin again since that's supposedly the best thing for the ear infections. We'll see what the Doctor says..

I'm going to keep it short but I hope everyone has a great week!

That was a quick week!

This week went by pretty quick. The biggest news this week was that my Cousin Jill and her husband Nate welcomed their first child, Gretchen into the world. We're both very excited for them and wish them them luck on their journey into parenthood. The best advice I can give you both is that it gets easier every day. :)

This week was fairly uneventful so there's not a lot to report. We spent the weekend putting up security cameras on the house and just hanging out. The girls are both doing very well. Caitlin is talking all the time and doing great with her potty training. She hasn't had any accidents in about 2 weeks and is even making it through most nights without wetting her pull up! She's doing very good and we're both very proud of her. This week we've finally gotten a brief break from watching Spiderman as well. She found the old animated series of Godzilla from the 1970's on Netflix and is enjoying watching that. Every time Godzilla shows up on the screen she tells me that the big Aligator is coming! The other night we had a really interesting conversation. As she was laying in bed going to sleep she started asking me about painting Emma's room and asked me if I remembered her putting the stickers on Emma's walls. I told her yes and she asked me if I painted her room too. When I told her yes, she said thank you and that she liked the pink color of her room. Then she asked, "when I get older, like 8, can we paint my room together?" It was so cute and I was totally shocked by how grown up she sounded!

Emma is doing great as well! This week she started really grabbing things and it's like she's discovered her hands. She's constantly smiling and laughing and loves interacting with Caitlin. She's still not rolling over completely yet but is rolling onto her side. She doesn't like being on her stomach too much so I'm not surprised that she's not trying to roll over all the way yet. Tomorrow is her last day on her medicine and we're both hoping that the ear infection has cleared. It's a few more weeks before we have another appointment so we'll see.

I'm going to keep it short this week but I hope everyone has a great week!

Happy Mother's Day!

This week was loaded with stuff going on! Early in the week, Toni and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary! Toni decided the best way to celebrate was to pull out her wedding dress to show Caitlin. Probably not the best idea considering she's had 2 children and 1 of those was less than 5 months ago.. It was a little snug but Caitlin was more than happy to put it on and model for us. :) She looked very cute. Sometimes it doesn't seem possible that we've been married for so long and I'm in awe everytime I look at the life we've built together. Caitlin and Emma are without a doubt the 2 things that I am most proud of in my life. 8 years ago I never could have guessed how things would turn out but I honestly wouldn't change anything. Life is good. :)

Early this week we also has some work done on the house! We had a concrete patio put in the back yard which looks awesome! It's 12x22 and gives us a lot of room to sit and relax together. Some day I hope to be able to build a roof to cover it so we can relax in the shade but that'll be a ways down the road.. We also had the guy put in brick flower beds on the front of the house and they've made a huge difference! Our house no longer looks like a box! We're going to load them up with flowers soon. We bought some today but we still need to get some planting soil to fill the garden beds with. It should look really nice and improve the curb appeal of our house. Caitlin loves the patio and wants to go out into the yard all the time to play. She'll run around the back yard imitating Rapunzel from the movie "Tangled" yelling "Best day ever!!" She also wants to be like Rapunzel and go barefoot outside but with the Texas bugs and the scalding temps, we don't let her live her Rapunzel dream in that respect. :)

Friday we got some news we didn't want to get. We took Emma back for her followup and her ear infection still hasn't cleared. Since she's allergic to the main medicine that is used to treat ear infections, the Doctor has been trying to use other medicines with no success. We now have to take Emma to an Ear/Nose/Throat specialist and will probably end up having tubes put in her ears. We're very apprehensive about doing this since it will require Emma to be put under anesthesia but the Doctor told us the procedure takes only a couple of minutes and is about as safe as you can get. The problem now though is that the earliest any of the 3 specialists can see us is the end of June! Emma's been doing great and shows no signs of being bothered by the ear infection. She's reaching out and grabbing things all the time now and can lift herself up pretty well when she's on her tummy. She's also rolling on her side and is getting very close to rolling over completely!

Friday night we also had dinner with an old friend from high school who I hadn't seen in nearly 20 years! She found me on Facebook a few weeks ago and was in town seeing her parents. We had a great time and it was great to see her. I am totally amazed by Facebook. Caitlin and Emma will litterally never have to lose touch with friends in their lives. It's an amazing tool!

Yesterday was pretty tiring. I spent the day helping my friend build a shed in his back yard. We've been building it for at least 6 weeks now and we're in the home stretch. It's coming out really nice and I'm amazed that we actually built it ourselves. Working behind a desk all day, it's nice to be able to get out and build something. :) We should be done soon and I'll post pics when we finish.

Today Toni celebrated her first mother's day as a mother of 2 and she said that it's been her best mother's day yet! Toni and Emma got her a gift and a card and Caitlin brought them bother to her and said, "Happy Mother's Day Mommy. I love you!" It was the sweetest thing to watch! We then all went out to breakfast and then to Lowe's to buy some plants for the new garden beds. Later in the afternoon we went and saw Nana Bev and Grampa Bob. Toni got some sewing tips and a sewing machine from Nana Bev. She's planning on sewing some stuff for Caitlin's "Tangled" themed birthday party in July! :) We had a nice visit and Caitlin had a lot of fun. We spent the afternoon relaxing on the patio and Caitlin played in her inflatable pool. She seemed to have a lot of fun. :)

Another busy one!

This week was another busy one for us. Today we started the day by me taking my 3 girls to breakfast. While out, I bought a couple scratch off lottery tickets and ended up winning $40! Later, we met up with family for a lunch at the park. Caitlin had a blast and especially liked the gigantic playground they had. Although she was a little nervous at first, she quickly got over her fears and was climging the playset and going down the highest slides they had. Some were probably 10 feet off the ground! She had a great time and it was incredible watching her play.

This weekend we also started having work done on the house. We're having brick planters built on the front of the house and a 12x22 concrete patio poured on the back of the house. I think it's going to look great and add a lot of usable space for us. As well as reducing the ammount of grass I have to mow which is nice. :) Caitlin was running around the back yard imitating Rapunzel in the movie "Tangled" yelling over and over, "Best day ever!!" She's really into Tangled and in one of the pictures at breakfast she saw a clay pot with a clay lizard sculpted onto it. She kept pointing and saying "Pascal". Pascal is the chameleon in Tangled. :)

This week Caitlin also started wanting to show us that she can drive! When she would get home at night she has started climbing into the front seat after Toni has turned off the car and gotten out and sitting in the drivers seat acting like she's driving! I really can't believe how fast she's growing up. Emma is growing more and more every day. She's almost to the point where she can roll over. She'll roll onto her side but hasn't yet rolled onto her stomach. I think that will happen very soon. She has also started grabbing toys and holding onto them and shaking them if they rattle. She's definitely getting more interactive every day.

This week is going to be busy. Tuesday we celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary! Wednesday is a big day too. Wednesday morning we're taking Emma to the Doctor to check her ear infection. If it's not gone, we're going to have to take her to a specialist and probably have tubes put in her ears. We're both extremely nervous about that and hope that's not the case. I really hope the latest antibiotic worked and the ear infections are behind us.
