Garden Bench

In continuing with our normal trend lately, this week was another busy week. Toni had a Doctor's appointment this week that went well and tomorrow we will hit the 6 month mark of the pregnancy! This pregnancy has been going so much faster than it did with Caitlin! Toni has been doing really well Caitlin seems excited about being a big sister. This week Toni was told by more than one person that she is "glowing" and that she looks good pregnant. She's now convinced that she needs to stay pregnant all the time! To that I can only say, "Ha! Not gonna happen!" :) On Monday I picked Caitlin up at school and when she saw me she got so excited and threw her baby doll and came running over to me and gave me a big hug. Obviously we'll make sure she's more gentle with Emma! :) We have our next sonogram the week after next and I plan to start getting Emma's room painted soon. We were at Lowe's today and I found the exact color of paint we wanted for Emma's room in the $5.00 bargain bin! What luck! :) We also bought the supplies for me to build a new garden bench. :) As you can see, Caitlin seems to enjoy it! We're going to paint it this week so it can stay outside and we can get many years of use out of it. Toni already has plans for another 2 of them! My next project will probably be a picnic table for the back yard.

This week me and Caitlin got to spend some quality time together. Toni had to go to Laredo for a couple days so we hung out together. We had a lot of fun but we both missed Toni and were happy when she got home.

Caitlin loves playing outside and this week she spent time outside on her swing set and blowing bubbles. She loves blowing bubbles and gets so excited when she's able to get some. She also loves stickers and as you can see by the last pic, loves to put them on herself! She's walked up to me on more than one occasion with as many as 9 stickers all over her body. :) This week she has started repeating more and more of what we say. The coolest this though was when Toni showed her a picture of Cousin Maddie and asked her who it was. Caitlin replied, "Baby Maddie"! It was so cool! She's learning and growing so fast. I think she's going to have a great time with Emma once she arrives.

This week should be slower than the last few. I worked half the day today but hopefully work won't be too bad this week. I hope to get the garden bench painted and maybe in the next couple of weeks build a picnic table so we can spend more time outside. Hope everyone has a great week!

Busy, busy, busy!

I'm gonna keep this post short tonight but I wanted to update and let everyone know how things are going. This week was a pretty busy week! I was on call this week which didn't initially seem like it was going to be that busy. Then the weekend hit and lets just say, I spent a lot of time at home in front of my computer! This weekend Caitlin got to see her Papa (Grampa Andres) and her family from Corpus Christi. Everyone came in for a wedding and Caitlin had a great time playing with the kids and seeing her Papa. :) On Sunday we went out to celebrate Nana Bev's birthday. We went out for lunch and Caitlin had a good time. She got extremely excited when she saw Cousin Maddie and wanted to sit next to her at lunch. I think the 2 of them are gonna have a lot of fun together once Maddie is old enough to play. :)

This week should be just as busy as last week. Toni has to go to Laredo tomorrow which means Caitlin and I will be hanging out together. :) Today Toni had an appointment for Emma and everything went well there. Emma's heartrate was 154 which is great! Today marks 23 weeks! Time is going by pretty fast! I'm hoping to get started on Emma's room in the next couple of weeks. Hope everyone has a great week!

What a week....

What a week! To start the week, Caitlin woke up battling an ear infection. She kept holding her ear and when I asked her if her ear hurt, she said yes. I then asked her if her nose hurt and she said no so I was pretty sure that she understood what I was asking. I ended up taking Monday off work and taking her to the Doctor. Sure enough, she has a bad ear infection. We've had her on medicine and once the 10 days are over, we'll be taking her back in to have her ears checked again to make sure that the infection has cleared up. By Tuesday she was back to her old self and hasn't complained of her ears hurting since. She loves the medicine that she has to take and likes to use the syringe to take it herself. It smells like fruit so I imagine it must taste pretty good. :)

On Tuesday morning we had another sonogram and everything with Emma looks good. Yes, this time the first Doctor was able to confirm 100% that Emma is a girl! Emma changed positions for the 2nd Doctor and the we were unable to tell that time but judging by the first look, we're going to move forward convinced she's a girl. Her room is coming along and in the next few weeks I'll get some chair rail up and paint. Caitlin seems excited about Emma and loves to kiss Mommy's belly any time we tell her to give Emma a kiss. :) In one of the pictures Caitlin is even trying to be like Mommy by putting cream on her belly like Mommy. It was so cute to watch her.

This week Caitlin also got good news! She's been promoted to the "Older Toddlers" room at school! It looks like her new class is going to offer her a lot of activities and chances to learn. She's going with some of the kids she's with now so it should make the transition easy for her since she'll already know some of the kids in class.

To end the week, we've got a couple of stories about Caitlin's feet. This weekend we went shopping and got her new shoes since she was outgrowing the ones she had. We found a pair of pink Converse high-tops that were 1 size too big but were on sale for a great price so we picked them up for later. When we got home, Caitlin wanted nothing to do with the new pair of shoes that we got that were actually her size. She wanted to put her Converse on! She really likes them and when I pulled my pair out she got really excited as well. :) The other story about her foot happened last night and explains why this post is a day late. We're not sure what bit her but it looks like either an ant or mosquito bite. It swelled up quite a bit but luckily she didn't have any problems. We were both worried that we were going to have to take her to the hospital because at first it looked pretty bad and we weren't sure if it was a spider bite or what! We kept monitoring her temperature and she never got a fever and never started having any problems breathing or anything so we decided to wait it out. The swelling eventually went down and she seems like she's doing better today.

As you can see, last week was quite a week from start to finish. This week I'm on call for the first time for my new job so hopefully it'll be quiet. Hope everyone has a great week!

Busy week!

What a busy week this was! The biggest development was with Caitlin and her rock wall on her swing set! If you look at the bottom of this post, you'll see a video of her from earlier in the week. Caitlin went out to her rock wall and started climbing it all on her own! When I offered her help, she kept saying "go away daddy!" She was able to climb it several times and it was incredible to see her do it each time! She is growing up so fast! This week she went and got a haircut and was extremely well behaved! She's been enjoying her swing set and loves going high on the swing. Friday night Aunt Sarah, Uncle Dan and Cousin Maddie came over and Caitlin and Maddie had fun swinging together. It was fun to watch both of their faces light up and see how much fun they were having!

Caitlin continues maturing every day and this week seemed like she made quantum leaps in her talking and understanding. She seems to understand just about everything we say and now tells us when she wants to go upstairs and when she wants to go outside. Today I told her that I needed to put my shoes on so we could go outside and she ran into my bedroom, got my shoes and came running out and started trying to put my shoes on my feet for me! She has also started putting her stuffed animal in her stroller when we're at the store and will push the stroller around on her own! The most amazing thing by far though was tonight when Toni asked Caitlin if she wanted to give Emma a kiss. Caitlin said yes and then ran over to Toni and kissed her stomach! We asked where Emma was and Caitlin pointed to Toni's stomach and said "inside". I then asked her if Emma was a baby and she responded, "yeah". She also said "yeah" when we asked her if she loved Emma, Mommy and Daddy!

Tuesday night we got to see an old friend of mine who I found on Facebook and hadn't seen in 24 years! We went out to see my friend Bonnie and her family. I went to 7th and 8th grade with Bonnie in Massachusetts and it was great to see her again after so many years! It's amazing how many people I've found on Facebook. It's got to be one of the coolest things ever invented. :) Caitlin had fun playing with the other kids and especially enjoyed playing with the 2 dogs that Bonnie's family has. It was a nice visit and I hope it's not another 24 years before we see each other again. They're having a reunion up in Massachusetts for all the people I grew up with. I really wish I could go but it would be really difficult at this point. Hopefully they'll have another one in a few years.

Yesterday we went out to Corpus Christi to see some of Toni's family. We had a nice visit and Caitlin enjoyed going to the Museum of Science and History. She especially enjoyed playing in the children's area with her Cousins. We had a lot of fun and went out to Fuddruckers for a late lunch before coming back to San Antonio. It was a nice visit and Caitlin seemed to really enjoy seeing all of her Cousins and Aunt and Uncle.

This week Toni also had another appointment for Emma. Everything looked great and there's nothing new to report. We have another sonogram Tuesday morning and if they confirm that Emma is actually a girl this time, I'll get started on painting her room! We've been working on cleaning everything out and hopefully can get it done. :) Tomorrow we will hit 21 weeks! More than halfway there! Toni is starting to show quite a bit and had to go get more maternity clothes this week because she was quickly running out of things to wear! I'll post more after Tuesday's sonogram to keep everyone updated.

Enjoying her swing!

This week was pretty busy. Toni was in Laredo for her job for a few days so Caitlin and I hung out every night together. She's is enjoying her swingset and every night wanted to go out and swing for at least 20 minutes or so. She seems to really enjoy herself and enjoys going high. Whenever the swing starts to slow down she'll start saying "more Daddy!" She's also been playing on the play set and likes going to the top level to sit. Every time she goes to the top level though she'll start yelling, "Help me please daddy!" She likes for me to climb up into the playset and sit on the top floor with her. Usually when I get up there she'll just play with the steering wheel that's up there and look around. She usually needs help getting down from the 3rd level but other than that she's doing great on it. She loves looking out through the telescope toy at the street and has even gone down the slide a few times on her own. Yesterday she wanted to climb the rock wall so she could go down the slide afterward. Whenever I'd try to help her she'd tell me to go away because she wanted to figure it out on her own. She made it up on her own (for the most part) and was very excited to come back down the slide and run back to the rock wall to do it all again.

Things are going well otherwise. We've been going through everything in Emma's room that we've been storing in there and trying to clean it out. Toni had an appointment before going to Laredo and everything came back good. Emma's heartrate was 142 and everything looks good with Toni's sugar levels. We have another appointment for a sonogram on August 10th. After that appointment they should be able to tell us 100% that we're having a girl and then I'll move on to painting the room. :) Tomorrow we will hit the 20 week mark. I'm still not sure it's hit me that we're really having another baby yet. :)

This weekend we tried to just relax after 2 weeks of one of us being out of town most of the time. Yesterday we took Caitlin to a hamburger place called Freddy's. It was really good and Caitlin really enjoyed her ice cream after the meal. :) Hopefully this week will be quiet for us. Hope everyone has a good one!
