No more weeks like this please....

What a week this was! Before I start, let me just say that despite the pictures, Caitlin is doing fine. On Tuesday I got a call from Toni in a panic telling me that Caitlin had hit her head running into a picnic table at school. She went on to tell me that she had a picture from one of the teachers and it looked bad. I immediately left work to go to the school fearing the worst. All I knew was that she had hit her head and there was no bleeding. I got to the school right after Toni and Caitlin didn't look happy. The first picture was around 10 minutes after she hit the table and the second is when we got there about 30 minutes later. I'm told that the swelling was actually a lot worse and that ice was able to keep the swelling down. Caitlin seemed to be doing alright and was answering our questions. She said her head didn't hurt, that she wasn't feeling sick and that she wasn't tired. We decided to take her to Nana Bev's house for the remainder of the day so she could watch over her and if Caitlin showed any signs of a concussion, we'd take her to the Doctor. She was very happy to be going to Nana Bev's and even made sure to bring her sunglasses, pillow and blanket. She did fine that afternoon and evening and seemed to make a full recovery almost immediately.

Other than that, things were ok. On Monday Toni took the girls to one of the Fiesta parades downtown. It was a riverboat parade and they went with a bunch of people from her job. I had to stay home because I was on call. The girls both seemed to have a lot of fun. In other news, Emma has started following Caitlin to the potty. Hopefully she'll want to learn how to use the potty soon too! This weekend we mostly stayed around the house because I was on call and then on Sunday we went to Nana Bev's to drop off some of the kid's school pictures. I'll try to scan them and post them soon. Hopefully this week will be a lot quieter for us. :-)

Chatterbox

This was a pretty busy 2 weeks for the Vargas household and I hope to start getting back on my weekly schedule. This weekend was the first time since my pneumonia that I actually started feeling like my old self. I'm still not 100% but I'm a lot closer than I was. :-) Everything with the girls is good. Emma is starting to get very talkative. She says "Mommy" and "Daddy" quite a bit. Caitlin is also doing good, she's starting to do a lot more on her own (like putting shoes on). It's amazing to me how much they are both growing!

This weekend we didn't do too much. The girls had fun playing with Cousins Ryan and Maddie who stopped by to exchange Easter gifts. We all had a nice visit. We also took Caitlin and Emma to the park this weekend and they had a lot of fun playing and watching one of the people fly a kite. Hopefully this week is quiet, I'm on call all week which is always fun... I'm going to keep this post short but hopefully I can get back into the habit of posting more often. Hope everyone has a good one!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone! I know it's been a while since my last post but it's been extremely busy around the Vargas household. A couple of weeks ago we went to Brownsville which was a nice visit. When we got home, I started getting sick and that turned into a 2 week ordeal that ended up being pneumonia! It has not been a fun experience.. On top of that, Toni and Caitlin both had bronchitis and Emma, not wanting to be left out, ended up with head lice! Needless to say, the last 2 weeks have not been fun. We had a nice Easter weekend. Toni, the girls and Grampa Andres went to Austin for a birthday party on Saturday. On Sunday the girls had fun collecting Easter eggs. I was still pretty run down so I spent most of the weekend sleeping. Hopefully this week will be better.
