"Baby"

This week Emma has started talking! This week she started saying "Baby!" She'll also try to say sister, daddy and mommy! I'm really trying to get her on video but I haven't been able to get a good one to post yet. Hopefully soon. She's also officially walking and doing really good at it. She'll still crawl from time to time but for the most part, she's walking all the time. Caitlin is doing great as well. I am amazed every time she talks. Her talking has gotten more and more mature. She does still have problems with some words. This week she was trying to tell us she wanted to watch a cartoon called "Kick Buttowski". She says it as "chicken the housey". It's amazing how fast they are both growing! I'm gonna keep this post short. Hope everyone has a great week!

Valentines Day!

Last week went by pretty quick. For Valentine's day I got all of my girls silk flowers, candy and stuffed animals. They all seemed to like it. :) This weekend was really short. Saturday we went to a birthday party for one of Caitlin's classmates and then when we got home, I tried out a recipe from my new Alton Brown cookbook for gumbo. I've never been really big on gumbo but Toni loves it and she was very impressed. It came out great and I enjoyed it as well. I'm assuming it was good, by the time I got home from work Sunday afternoon, there was none left. :-)

The girls are doing good. We did end up taking Emma to the Doctor because after eating, her lips turned purple. The Doctor checked her out and found no breathing problems and her oxygen levels were excellent. They said that Emma is probably just sensitive to the cold. We've been warming her bottles up now and it hasn't happened since. We did find out bad news though, her ear infection is back. We've got to wait 2 weeks to see if it clears and if it doesn't, we'll need to call the specialist and make an appointment.. Emma has started walking a lot on her own and today her and Caitlin walked holding hands to the car! As Emma gets more mobile they're starting to play a lot together which is awesome to watch. Emma has the funniest laugh that I'm hoping to get on video soon. I'm going to keep this post short this week. Hope everyone has a great week!

40

"Where else would you rather be than right here, right now?"

Marv Levy, Coach of the Buffalo Bills before the Super Bowl

This week I hit a major milestone in life - 40! I had heard that turning 40 was a hard thing but to be honest, it didn't phase me. I like that quote from Marv Levy and it applies to my life right now. Although things aren't perfect (and they never will be) I'm in a great place in my life and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. My birthday week was nice, on Tuesday I took Emma to the Ear specialist and everything looked good. We have another appointment in a couple of months to see how things are doing. At this point, they don't want to put the tube back in if she doesn't have anymore problems so we're hopeful that she won't need them. I took the rest of the week off and had a great day on Wednesday hanging out with Caitlin. Last night we had a dinner with friends and family at a sports bar called "Beef 'o Brady's". It was a nice dinner and I had a lot of fun celebrating. We had good food and good company, what more could I ask for?

This week won't be quite as fun. It's back to reality and then I have to work next Sunday so even my weekend will be short. For now though, I'm enjoying my life and am in a good place.

Doing much better!

Last week was quite a bit more relaxed than the week before. Emma seems like she's over the RSV which is great news. She's back to her old self now and off the breathing treatment. Tomorrow morning I am taking her to her 6 month checkup with the ear specialist. I'm not sure what he's going to want to do about the tube that fell out. Hopefully the infection has cleared and she won't need another put in.

Other than that, yesterday we had a Super Bowl party here at the house. Dan smoked a turkey which turned out great and the game proved to be a good match up! I'm going to keep this short this week but I should have a lot to talk about next week. Wednesday I'll be turning 40 and next Saturday we're having a get together for dinner which should be nice. We're taking Wed-Fri off work which should be nice. Still not sure where we're going or what we're doing but it should be nice. :) Have a great week!
