School Is In Session

This week was quite eventful. On Monday the girls started the school year. Or more to the point, Emma did. Caitlin's school had a lot of problems with connections so she wasn't able to start. Emma had more luck and was able to start classes with very few problems. On Tuesday things were going better and both girls were able to start working. The did fine with the virtual schooling and it wasn't any problems with the 3 of us all working from home. On Friday night, we all watched Bill and Ted Face The Music. I first heard that they were thinking about making the new one about 10 years ago and have been looking forward to it ever since. It was a fun movie to watch and I really enjoyed seeing the characters in a movie again.

This week the AC in the house got clogged so we had to clean the lines and today Toni cleaned the coils. Hopefully it'll keep working fine from here on. The first picture is one of Emma's pictures she drew. The picture is of Hedy Lamar. I think she did a great job on it and she definitely has some amazing talent. We didn't get any painting done this weekend but I think we'll be painting next weekend over the long weekend. We'll see what happens.

The End Of The Summer Is Here.....

This week was fairly quiet. The girls are getting ready for the school year to start tomorrow. We'll be doing virtual school which should be interesting. At least the girls will be safe. This week was Uncle Dan and Nana's birthdays. We stopped by Nana's house and dropped off her present. It was a nice visit and it was good to see her. Yesterday we were going to paint but once I talked to the paint store, we decided to go a different direction. The paint store was 2-3 times more expensive that Lowe's so we went to Lowe's instead. We also weren't sure about the shade of gray so we went and picked up a new sample and we like it a lot more. The original shade we had looked at looked more blue than we wanted. We've finally found what we were looking for and we'll probably buy a couple of gallons this week and paint next weekend.

Today we decided to go on.a drive out to Medina Lake just to get out and see something different. It was a nice getaway and we has fun just seeing something different. It's a beautiful area and a nice way to see something different that's not the city. Tonight we're going to get everything ready for tomorrow which is the first day of school. This girls aren't too excited about the summer being over but I have a feeling this year is going to be a memorable one. The picture of the balloons is one of the columns that Toni made for the school. On Friday night she took Emma to the school to pickup her books. I hope everyone has a great week and stays safe.

Changes are coming..

This week was another busy week with work. We did decide to start looking at new paint colors for the downstairs. We've now tried 5 different shades of grey and I think we've settled on Pelican Grey from Benjamin Moore. The problem we've been running into is that all 5 of them seem to look totally different depending on the lighting and the wall that they're on. They sometimes look too blue which isn't the color we want. But the Pelican Grey looks pretty good and we're happy with it. We painted the column downstairs with the sample can of paint that we bought. Overall, we're very happy with how it looks and we'll be buying a few gallons this week to hopefully paint the living room and dining room next weekend. Not sure how much longer after that it'll take but after painting, we're going to put down laminate floors to really update the downstairs and get rid of the old carpet which will be nice. We've got a lot of projects to work on around the house and I think it will be fun to do this stuff with the girls as a family.

Other than that, this is the last week of summer vacation for the girls. They're going to be going to school virtually this year but I think getting back to a routine will be good for them. I think it might have some challenges with me also working at home but we'll figure it out. I'm going to keep this post short for this week but I hope everyone is staying safe and has a great week.

Lazy Days of Summer

This week was another busy week for me. Work is just not letting up. This week will be another busy week for me. We'll be doing interviews to fill the empty position we have so hopefully things will get a little easier soon. Toni had a day off during the week because she had to work last weekend and she took the girls to one of apartments her company owns and they spent several hours at the pool which they enjoyed. I'm glad they were able to get away and I wish I had been able to join them. Other than that, the girls have been enjoying playing Animal Crossing on the Nintendo Switch.

Other than that, the only other thing we did this week was to sign up the girls for online school for the year. I'm really hoping my job doesn't find someplace for my department to physically go back to but at this point it doesn't look like I'll be going back for a while. We're still working hard to get the house paid off quickly and as of now, we're on track to be done by this time in 2022. I think having the house paid off will open up a ton of possibilities for us financially and give us a level of freedom that will be incredible. We're also thinking about taking the carpet out of the downstairs and putting in laminate floors soon. With the carpet being original to the house from 2006, it's starting to get a little worn and could use replacing. I'm not particularly excited about doing it because it's back breaking work but we'll see. It might be a fun project to have the girls help with.

Pool time!

Not a lot new to report this week. Work has been extremely busy which is not a good thing. Today we decided to go to the pool at Toni's job for an hour just to get out of the house. It was nice to get out and the pool was empty so we felt comfortable being there. It started getting a little hot so we called it quits after an hour but it was still nice to get out. This week Toni is taking a day off because she had to work yesterday so she's going to take the girls down to the pool at the apartment complex that we went to down near the Missions a couple of months back. It's better for Toni because she doesn't have to be around work and her and the girls can have some fun at the pool. Unfortunately I'm going to have to work. I'm on call next week but I'm hoping someone else decides to take it because they want to earn comp time. I'm already pushing 40 hours of comp time and almost 200 hours of vacation time so I'm not as interested in building more time that I can't use right now. We'll see how it goes. The following weekend I have patching again so I'll be earning even more then..

Other than work, not much new to report. We should be answering a questionnaire from the school district next week that will be for deciding how the kids will be going to school this year. We're going to select online. The Covid cases are still high and Texas is still one of the top 3 states for infections so sending the kids to school isn't an option in our minds. I hope everyone is staying safe!
