Short week!

This week was fairly uneventful for us. I was off for MLK Day and kept the girls home. We went to several Goodwills shopping for inventory for our resale business and then in the afternoon took Caitlin to her dentist appointment. Everything checked out well and she did great. Other than that, the week was spent doing the usual school and work stuff. The girls both had a Girl Scouts meeting and are both selling cookies this year. On Sunday we all had breakfast with Nana Bev and then I watched to playoffs. We're starting to get excited about the Disney World trip. 3 weeks from now we'll be there!

Happy 6th Birthday Maddie!!

Happy birthday to Cousin Maddie! Can't believe she's 6! It seems like all of the kids are growing up so fast! She had her party at a gymnastics place close to the house. It was a lot of fun and the kids all got to burn off a lot of energy. :) Yesterday I went to garage sales and had an okay day. there weren't a lot of sales but the few we hit, I did find a few really good finds. I think I should make some pretty good money on what I found. I've been working hard on the business and may branch out into Youtube videos chronicling my reselling adventures at some point. This week I decided to start looking into selling clothing as well since I find a lot more clothes than I find videogames and electronics. We'll see how that goes. Right now I'm going to invest a little money into clothing and see how it goes. Right now I'm spending a lot of time getting stuff ready for next month when we go on vacation. It still doesn't seem real that at this time next month we will be in Disneyworld!

The Green Room Meetup - Austin Texas

This week was a busy one for us. On Wednesday Caitlin had her Math tutoring and we found out that the tutor will no longer be available to see her. That’s a real shame because it seemed like the tutoring was really helping her. Hopefully we can find another tutor for her soon. I spent a couple of nights during the week at my Mom’s rental house helping her clean out the garage of stuff that the previous tenants had left behind. It’s amazing how quickly people will show up at your house when you advertise free stuff! The garage is pretty much empty now! On Friday night the girls stayed with Nana Bev and me and Toni took a trip out to Austin to meet some members of The Green Room. It’s a Facebook group of re-sellers that I’m a part of that’s really helping me learn the business. When we got to Austin we stopped at a restaurant and had dinner with several of the members. We had a great time and everyone was extremely friendly. Chris “The Bonafide Hustler” who has a Youtube channel that I’ve learned a lot from was very nice and said that he would say hi to Caitlin and Emma in one of his videos because they are both big fans. J I think I’m going to record their reactions when they watch it. On Saturday morning we went to a couple of garage sales and thrift stores with everyone and while I didn’t buy a lot, I learned a lot. We ended our trip with lunch at Whole Foods. Overall, it was a great trip and we both had a lot of fun. We got home in time for me to watch the Steelers win their playoff game against the Bengals.

Happy New Year! 2016!

I’m not even going to make excuses.. I fell behind on the blog pretty badly. L Life in the Vargas house is going good. 2015 was a mixed year though. Caitlin is in 2nd grade is doing good in school but is struggling a little in math. Emma turned 5 in December and will be going to Kindergarten in the fall. They are both Girl Scouts now and are growing faster than I though possible. In February we’re taking our first family vacation to Disney World! Back in March I started a side business reselling and have been able to pay for our trip. The girls are excited and I can’t wait to see their faces! Early in the year I also got a new vehicle. I traded in my Chrysler 300C for a 2011 Ram 1500 Crew Cab truck. Being back in a truck is awesome and I don’t see myself ever going back to a car. J My midlife crisis is over. J 2015 also brought some sadness for the Vargas family. In July, Grampa Bob died suddenly from a heart attack. The girls still talk about him and miss him. I really hope and am going to make a serious effort to get back into blogging. I feel really bad that I’ve missed posting so many of the big events in the girl’s lives. Hopefully I can get things going in the right direction again in 2016.
