Valentine's Tree!

Today we spent a little time with my sister and her family. The movers were packing up her house and tonight they're heading out to their new home in Pennsylvania. We're excited for their new adventure and we wish them the best. At some point we'll have to go up for a visit. This week me and Emma put up a small tree in the theater room and decorated it for Valentine's Day. We're thinking of keeping the all year tree going for the rest of the year. We'll see how things go. Other than that, I've been on call this week and thankfully it's been quite so far.

A Short Week

This week was a short week at work. I was off on Monday and Tuesday which was nice. Monday I had a Doctor appointment and then the roofer came by to look at the damage. On Tuesday I took the kids to see Spider-Man No Way Home. We all really enjoyed the movie and I have to say that it's now my favorite Marvel movie. On Thursday the schools got shut down because it got cold in San Antonio. Only in San Antonio would they shut down the entire city because it gets cold. On Friday the roofers came and fixed the roof. It didn't take long and they did the work for free which was awesome! Other than that, the week was quiet. We've been staying home because of covid. Toni did go see some of her family who was in town today. They had a nice visit. I wish we could have gone but with the girls still not vaccinated and me still recovering, I figured it was safer for me us to stay home. This week I'm on call which sucks but hopefully it'll be quiet.

Gone With The Wind.....

Another week of 2022 and another problem.. This weekend the wind was pretty bad and several shingles were ripped off of the house.. Also som trim on the front of Toni's van also nearly came off. We're having someone come out tomorrow to look at the roof. Hopefully it doesn't cost too much to fix. We're not going to contact insurance about it because it'll probably be less than our deductible. Toni and I are at least feeling better. This week wasn't fun and I had a pretty bad sore throat for most of it but it's cleared up now. Toni still has a cough but seems to be improving. Thankfully the girls didn't get sick. Tomorrow I'm off for MLK day. The roof people should be coming out and I have a virtual Doctor appointment in the afternoon. I also took Tuesday off since the girls are off of school as well and I'm hoping we'll be able to go see Spiderman. The only other thing that happened this week was I showed Emma quite a few retro video games including Atari and an old handheld Baseball game that I used to have when I was a kid. She actually enjoyed the old stuff which was cool.

Screw This Entire Decade So Far...

As I look back over the last 2 years or so, I have to shake my head.. We've dealt with heart issues for both me and Toni, Kidney Stones, Gallbladder Stones, cysts, geographic tongue, 3 waves of a pandemic, and now this week Covid hit us at home. Toni started feeling sick and got tested and came back positive. I've had a sore throat that won't quit since Friday and both girls have had a fever at some point over the weekend. Honestly, this whole decade so far has sucked. We've managed to make some positives out of the situations but I can't remember a 2 year stretch that was this challenging. I sure hope things start getting better soon. Thankfully Toni is feeling somewhat better. I'm just about the same. The only other thing that happened this week was that we bought a new patio table for the back patio. It's pretty nice and I hope once the weather is nice I'll be able to go out and sit with a coffee in the mornings and work for a little bit. I hope everyone is staying safe.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I can't believe it's 2022. I've given up trying to figure out where the time has gone at this point. We didn't do much for New Years Eve. We went out on the back patio and set off some sparklers and watched the neighbors set off fireworks. Overall, I'm entering 2022 cautiously optimistic. The last 2 years have had their fair share of challenges so we'll see how things go. This coming week we'll be back to work which I'm not looking forward to. I am so ready to retire.... This year I'm hopeful that we'll have a good year and meet all of our goals. For sure, this year will have a lot of changes for us. I hope everyone has a great year!
