Growing up so fast!

This was another busy week for us. This week I ended up taking another day off work to take Emma to the Doctor. Last week was Caitlin, and this week Emma seems like she's gotten whatever Caitlin had. She's doing good now but is fighting an ear infection. :( She definitely didn't like going to the Doctor and especially didn't like having her ears checked. Hopefully her ear infection will clear up soon. For a few nights Emma was back to waking up several times during the night with a bad cough and I'm assuming her sore ear. Antibiotics seem to have improved things and her cough is gone and she's back to sleeping through the night which is nice.

I swear that every day the girls are maturing right before our eyes. Caitlin is a little chatterbox and knows so many words that it blows my mind! It's amazing how much she talks to us and how she can carry on a conversation with us! She's also acting so grown up! In the last picture she was trying on her new dress and when I went to take a picture, she started striking poses and saying cheese! Tonight she's running around the house with her digital camera taking pictures of us and Shiloh! She'll even tell us "say cheese". :) Emma is getting bigger everyday and is smiling more than ever! At her Doctor appointment she weighed 14lbs, 15 ounces! She's also started holding her bottle when we feed her and likes to watch us and play peek-a-boo.

This weekend we went to a birthday party for Caitlin's friend A.J who turned 3. Caitlin seemed to enjoy the balloon animals that the clown made but spent most of the party keeping her distance from the clown! I think the lady scared her. Caitlin did make sure to thank her for the balloon animals though and was very happy with her poodle and flower balloons. She also made sure to get a heart balloon for Emma. When we were leaving the party Caitlin fell in the driveway and scraped her knee. It looked like it really hurt and she spent the rest of the day showing us her "owie". :(

This week should be interesting. Thursday Caitlin is going on a field trip to the zoo and Toni and I have taken the day off to go down with her. It should be a lot of fun. I hope everyone has a great week!

Another Cousin is on the way!

This week we got the news that my sister and her husband are going to be having a boy in August! We're all looking forward to all of the kids playing together and are very happy for Sarah and Dan for their upcoming addition to their family. Besides that news, this week was pretty uneventful. Both girls are doing good and Caitlin's cough seems to be clearing up for the most part. This weekend Dan, Sarah, Maddie and Nana Bev stopped by for a visit. Nana Bev gave Caitlin a picnic basket which she really seems to enjoy and was walking around the house with for quite a while. She kept asking us if we wanted to go on a picnic with her. It was very cute. :) With the weather turning nicer, we've been taking the girls out to play on the swingset. They both enjoy swinging although Caitlin definitely likes going higher than we push Emma! :)

I'm going to keep this post short today. Hope everyone has a great week!

Abc's!

This was a pretty busy week. On the 10th, Emma turned 3 months old! The time is definitely going fast! We're going to take some pics for her 3 month pics which I'll post this weekend. The weekend went way too fast. Toni and Caitlin went to a birthday party for one of Caitlin’s friends and I stayed home with Emma. For the first time, Emma started trying to roll over! She got onto her side but couldn’t completely roll onto her stomach. She was trying her hardest though and I think she’s going to do it soon. She’s doing pretty well with sleeping but did wake up 3 mornings at around 4 which made it hard making it through the days at work. Luckily that seems to be an isolated incident and she’s back to sleeping until around 6:00am. She seems like she’s growing so fast and getting so big. She’ll sit and watch us now and will smile if we smile or wave at her.

Caitlin is doing good. She started getting sick over the weekend and yesterday I took off work to take her to the Doctor. She has an ear infection and they gave her medicine for a cough as well. She’s not running a fever though and seems like she’s in good spirits. She’s growing up so fast! She now taking her medicine on her own when we give her the plastic syringe after measuring it and she even went and got her shoes and put them on by herself when Toni got home so she could go out in the garage! She also gets in and out of my car by herself (we still take care of the seatbelt in the carseat) and even takes off her jacket by herself when we get home. She understands so much and we’re really able to carry on conversations with her now. As you can see from the video, this week she even started saying her abc’s! (see the video on this week's post) It was amazing to watch her and I think she’s so cute pointing to the board like she’s teaching it. I’m glad I was able to record that moment.

Hopefully this week will be uneventful. I’m on call so we probably won’t be going anywhere. Hope everyone has a great week!

Cousin Maddie is walking!

This week was actually pretty quiet around the Vargas household which was a welcome change. The kids continue growing before our eyes. This week Caitlin climbed into my car and into her car seat all by herself! I asked her if she needed help and she politely said, "no thank you". She's becoming so independent! She's also learning how to bargain for what she wants. One night she kept asking for candy and wouldn't take no for an answer so we finally told her that if she pooped in the potty and not in her pants then she could have a piece of candy. Within 10 minutes she was in the potty pooping! She immediately told us that she had pooped and then proudly proclaimed that she could have candy! The next night she went to the potty and pooped again and once again started excitedly saying she was going to get candy because she pooped in the potty! After that I went into the bathroom and when I came out she was all excited and said, "you went potty Daddy! You get candy!" When I got my piece of candy she asked if she could have it! The potty training is going pretty well overall. Still not to the point where we're willing to get rid of the diapers entirely but we're getting there

Tonight Caitlin helped give Emma a bath and was actually very helpfull. She was helping wash Emma and then eagerly took a bath herself. Today we didn't do too much but Caitlin and Emma both went outside and played on the swingset for a little while and Caitlin especially had fun playing with our neighbor's dog that got into our yard under the fence! Also this week Caitlin did a lot of talking on the phone. She was carrying on a pretty good conversation with Grampa Andres (Papa) and then another night wanted to talk to Aunt Sarah about her candy flowers that Sarah had given her. On Friday she was very upset because she had taken her candy to school and at the end of the day they weren't in her cubby. We're not sure what happened. She kept telling us that Mr.Leo took them. (Owner of the daycare). We're not sure what happened but we got her some new flowers and she was extremely happy after that.

Yesterday we had nice get together with Nana Bev and Grampa Bob and Sarah and Dan's house. We had a good time and good food. Maddie is growing so much and is now walking. I couldn't resist posting her picture sticking out her tongue. She's walking around on her own now without holding onto anything. Watching kids grown up is an amazing thing!

Other than that, things are going smooth. Caitlin is enjoying coloring with her new watercolor crayons. They are clear markers that work on special paper. They take a minute for the color to show up so most of the time she'll start coloring and telling us that the colors aren't working. :) Emma is continuing to smile more and more and is sleeping pretty much through the night every night which is awesome! Hope everyone has a great week!
