What a week! This week saw several firsts for Caitlin with the biggest being her first steps! On Saturday we bought Caitlin a ride on toy that also doubles as a walker. As soon as we put it in front of her, Caitlin started running behind it. The video above was taken on my phone and as you can see, Caitlin really seems to be enjoying herself. She's been walking back and forth in the living room using the toy for balance and is getting up and walking on her own with it. She hasn't quite gotten down turning yet but she's doing really well. It was amazing to watch her take off and listen to her laughing the whole time. Tonight we also confirmed that we are going to have to baby proof the house immediately. I was at the top of the stairs installing a light and Caitlin and Toni were sitting downstairs. Caitlin saw me and crawled to the stairs and in another first for her, she actually climbed the stairs! Obviously Toni was behind her the whole time guiding her but she climbed all the stairs on her own! Needless to say, baby gates are going to be at the top of our to-do list this week.
Also this week, she started waving and opening and closing her hand as if to say "come here". She actually waved goodbye to Toni on Friday! She also has started holding her sippy cup on her own and in the picture above, she's started picking up food and feeding herself! In the picture above, she's eating some baby snacks that look like small Cheetos. She's also picking up and eating Cheerios and other little baby snacks when we put them on the table for her.
Today, Toni and I celebrated our 6th anniversary! The 3 of us went out for breakfast (to ihop) where Caitlin attracted a lot of attention. 2 waiters came by and told us how cute she was. We had a good breakfast together and then went to Lowe's and Home Depot where we picked up a ceiling fan and 3 light fixtures for the house. I spent most of the afternoon putting them up and they look great. We still had the original "cheapest you can buy" lights that the builder had put in over 2 years ago when we moved in so it was definitely time to upgrade. We also looked at hardwood floors. After doing my friend Jackie's floors last weekend and a couple nights this week, I'm not in a rush to do them here but it's something we'd like to do eventually. If for no other reason but to get the carpet out of the house. With all of the germs carpet holds, we'd like to get something else in here that is easier to keep clean.
This week should be pretty busy. Caitlin has a follow up appointment for her ear infection on Tuesday and Toni will be out of town on Thursday. She's going to Kansas for her job for a day. I will also be starting my new schedule this week, 7-4. I hope everyone has a great week!
