Sister! Today was Caitlin's 2nd birthday and to start the day, we had a sonogram appointment which went well and revealed with 90 percent certainty that we are having another little girl. The baby wasn't sitting in a good position but from what they could see, both Doctors said that they were 90% sure that the baby is a girl. Based on that information, we can start calling our gummy bear by her name - Emma Faith Vargas. Everything looks like it's going along nicely in the pregnancy so far. Emma's heartrate was 147 and sounded strong. Everything else looks like it's developing nicely. We saw the spine, heart, kidneys, fingers, toes, and of course the arms, legs and head. At this point Emma weighs 8 ounces and is growing nicely. We were both kinda hoping for a boy but are thrilled with the news that our little baby is developing nicely so far and there are no problems. We're both very excited to that we are having another little girl and Caitlin will have a Sister to grow up with. :)
To celebrate Caitlin's birthday, we took her down to the zoo which she really enjoyed. She loved seeing the monkeys and whenever she'd see one, she'd start making monkey noises. :) She also knew the noises that sheep and birds make! She had a lot of fun seeing the fish and as soon as she saw her first one, she started pointing and saying "Nemo, Nemo!!" :) She spent a good deal of time in the children's play area fishing with a magnetic pole. She quickly found that it was easier to get the fish she wanted by reaching in with her hands and grabbing them rather than using the pole. It was funny to watch her proudly pluck plastic fish from the water and hold them up triumphantly. :) We spent a couple of hours at the Zoo and Caitlin seemed to really enjoy herself. Yesterday I took the day off work and got to spend the day hanging out with her as well which was nice. We went to Wal Mart together and then spent some time outside on the swing set which she enjoyed a lot.
It's pretty amazing that 2 years ago we were welcoming Caitlin into the world and now 2 years later to the day, we find out that we're going to be welcoming another little girl into the world in 5 more months! Life really is quite amazing!
